The inclusion accreditation for nights out

The badge that means everyone is welcome here, and we checked.

For pubs, bars, clubs, restaurants, hotels, students' unions, sports clubs, and the events, festivals and Prides they host. Staff are trained by people who live it. Every accredited space is visited without warning. The badge is earned, and kept by keeping it true.

Trained.Tested.Earned.

Ten things, published

Ten things a venue does beyond its Best Bar None base. All ten are on this site, with what we look for and how. Ten out of ten and the badge is yours.

Visited without warning

Volunteer Ambassadors from the communities we serve visit as guests on random nights. Every accredited space is in the pool every year and nobody knows when.

A badge that is kept

If something slips, sixty days, our support and a re-visit are in every fee. A public map shows the date of the last pass. A standard should hold itself to one.

The Glitter Standard is the accreditation. Glittered is what you are once you have earned it.

Best Bar None, plus ten things.

No scoring, no weighting, no small print. Do all ten and you are Glittered. Every door that says everyone is welcome means it; this is how a venue shows it, and how a guest can know.

Six steps. About a month. £95 a year.

  1. Talk to us

Twenty minutes, no cost. We tell you what applies to your kind of venue and what it costs.

  2. Get the base in place

Best Bar None accreditation, or its free policy templates if there is no scheme where you are. We never re-assess it.

  3. Train your people

One manager does a three-hour online course; the team does a 45-minute online module. Unlimited seats, included.

  4. Do the Ten

Sign the pledge, put the cards and posters up, write your courtesies list, publish a few lines online, put the QR cards out.

  5. Show the evidence

Ten ticks. Your Best Bar None assessor or your area manager confirms them in the assessment they already do.

  6. Badge up, then keep it

The badge, the window sticker and your place on the map. Then we visit as guests. Pass, improve with our help, or reapply.

Built with, and alongside.

Glittery and fabulous

Organisations whose values we share and whose work we think is glorious. We love them, we point people to them, and we want you to know their names. None of these has endorsed The Glitter Standard and none of them owes us a thing. This is our list, not theirs. Anything official is announced as an official partner above, and only once it has been agreed.

The Glitter Standard is an inclusion layer, not another scheme. Best Bar None is the base. Ask for Angela is point nine of the Ten. Nothing you already run has to change.

It started on a dance floor.

Glitterbomb Events

Our sister brand, Glitterbomb, has run hundreds of LGBTQIA+ events in more than 25 cities since 2012. Every lesson in the Ten was learned on those nights, including the ones that went wrong. The party proves the badge and the badge protects the party. Booking a Glitterbomb event never earns a badge; only passing does.
